Rune
Glifberg (Born October 7, 1974 in Copenhagen, Denmark) turned pro in 1992. _- He has two daughters and splits his time between Costa Mesa, CA and Denmark with his family. His nickname is "The Great Dane". Rune is and has been for many years one of the most elite Vert skateboarders in the world. On a regular basis he places in the top 3 of any contest he enters. Rune Glifberg is also one of the first skateboarders to pull off a kickflip board slide. Rune is currently ranked 5th in the World. Charles
'Bucky' Lasek (Born December 3, 1972 in Baltimore, Maryland) Bucky started skateboarding at the age of twelve. Powell Peralta talent scouts quickly noticed him in 1987, after some amateur contests. Powell sponsored Lasek and he made his video debut in the 4th Bones Brigade video, Public Domain (1988). He turned pro for Powell in 1990 and is considered as one of the most consistent vert skateboarders in the sport. Some of his signature contest tricks include the Heelflip Frontside Gay Twist and Switch Frontside 540. As of 2006, Bucky Lasek has won 8 X-Games Medals, _five gold. He also repeats as Dew Tour Champion in 2006. Bucky is currently ranked 3th in the World. Jake
Brown (Born on September 6, 1974 in Sydney Australia) Go Big or Go Home! This is skateboard vert competitor Jake Brown's moto! This Australian tends to go bigger and harder than any other contender in the skateboarding world and it shows through his riding. He is fearless and few skateboarders even try to attempt, nonetheless land, the complicated tricks that Jake throws down. Jake started skateboarding in 1987, started competing in 1996, and turned Pro in 1997. Jake Brown has some of the hardest vert skateboarding tricks dialed in, like 720s and his double kickflip mute. Jake Brown does not skateboard conservatively, _ it's just not his style, and because of his mastery of technical and flip tricks is what lead him to his first X-Games gold finally in 2006. Though known for taking huge risks, he is renowned for his consistency and style. Jake's unparalleled performance on the Vert ramp has earned him the respect and admiration of thousands. Chris
Gentry (Born on May 19, 1974, in Houston, TX) Chris Gentry has been competing as a vert skateboarder since 1987 and is currently ranked in the elite top 5 of his discipline. He started building his own ramps at 8 years old and soon became one of the top skateboarders in the state winning amateur -competitions. In late 1991, Chris turned pro and toured on a 14 country European tour, then the MTV Sports and Music Festival and the Lollapalooza tour in 1992. A leading figure in the action sports world over the last 10 years, he has been viewed by millions in skateboard magazines, featured on NBC, ABC, ESPN, MTV, VH-1, FOX54321, FUEL TV, and skateboard contests around the world. Chris keeps himself busy with other ventures as well. No doubt a great skateboarder, Gentry is also a talented musician and is the founder of PRO (Pro Riders Organization), the organization for the riders by the riders. Pierre
Luc Gagnon (Born May 2, 1980 in Montreal, Quebec Canada) Pierre started skaboarding in 1988 and started competing in 1992 and in 1997 he turned Pro. Pierre is a consistent powerhouse skateboarder who pulls off spins and complicated tricks one after another while high above the coping. Pierre-Luc Gagnon is innovative and highly technical, which is how he has come so far so quickly. Pierre-Luc Gagnon also feeds off of the audience. When he is trying new tricks he needs someone there to motivate him. Giving up or landing a trick can sometimes depend on who's yelling at you according to Pierre. Neal
Hendrix (Born on May 12, 1973 in Lewisville, NC) He turned pro in 1991, and has seen his sport and the skateboard industry go from a niche sport to an international phenomenon. Neal eats, breathes and sleeps skateboarding. As the director of action sports marketing for Woodward Camp, he has an incredible training ground right at his fingertips, and his skateboarding shows it. Being a pro skateboarder has enabled Neal to travel all over the world _ and has opened many doors, such as skateboarding at the 1996 Olympic closing ceremonies. All of the good times didn't _ come without payment. Through all of his injuries, he's been able to rebound and still compete at the highest level. Mike
Crum Mike has been skateboarding pro for 15 years and loving every minute of it. _ This goofy rider turned entrepenuer originally from Dallas has set up a skateshop in Allen, TX - Crum & Smith Skate and also a production company with partner Jason Speer called MPC Productions. A vert specialist, _Mike has enjoyed much success in doubles with -four-time partner Rune Glifberg. _ He is one of the original _ X-Games _ skateboard athletes, winning 4 _vert _doubles_ medals_ at the_ X-Games ('99, '01, '02, '03). Sandros
Diaz (Born April 19, 1975 in San Paulo, Brazil) Sandro Dias got his first skateboard as a Christmas present in 1986, when he was a little kid in Sao Paulo, Brazil. He entered his first competition at age 8, a street skateboarding event, and placed 8th! Sandro Dias has been a professional skateboarder for nearly 10 years. In 1996 he started competing in international contests. Sandro and his best friend would borrow a skateboard from his friend's brother. -He finally got his own board from his dad and started hanging out all the time at skateparks. Things progressed to a point where Sandro was competing as much as possible and could never stop skateboarding. Sandro's progression goes something like this... 1997 and 1998 found Sandro competing in Europe and by 1999, he was a regular in contests such as the X and Gravity Games. He finished 1999 in the top 20. Just a year later, he finished the year in the top 10 WCS. Now fully competing in all the WCS contests around the world, Sandro had not only put himself on the map, he is currently ranked number 1 in the WCS standings. He wasn't just improving from year to year; he also had the results to show for it. 2003 was a breakout year for Sandro and the skateboarding world had no choice but take notice of his incredible talent. He is recognized as one of the Best Vert Skateboarders in the world and has been called the King of 540. Danny
Mayer (Born on May 29, 1978 in Omaha, NE) Danny "Dino" Mayer has been a competitor since 1990, with the exception of a few years off from 1996-2001. After taking time off, he figured he should begin skateboarding again and not let his talent go to waste. Since then he has been having more fun than ever and loving every minute of it. Danny is best known for his "Best Trick" abilities, and is famous for his Kickflip McTwist. After returning to the skateboarding scene he swept every MSS event and won the infamous Slam City Jam Best Trick contest. - In 2006, he took 8th at the Action Sports World Tour, and in 2004 he was the Overall Vert Champion at the Mobile Skatepark Series as well as the 3rd place winner at the X-Games for Vert Best Trick. Tas
Pappas (Born on September 2, 1975 in Melbourne, Australia) Tas began skateboarding at the age of 12 when he got his first board. Nearly 20 years after his mom bought him the board, the journey for Tas Pappas lives on. Through his ups and downs and the injuries that he's overcome, Pappas still is a competitor to be reckoned with. Born in Melbourne, Australia and of Greek descent, Tas now resides in Carlsbad, CA. Not exactly your normal road to the top of the skateboarding world to in 1996 when he was ranked #1 in Vert. But hey, who's to say what's normal in any world. Tas had the drive, talent and hunger to make it to the top in '96 but fell on hard times with injuries hampering his career. A broken back forced Tas to take some time off but he's now venturing to the top again. He has the determination to comeback and not let the string of injuries stop him from what he loves. Lincoln
Ueda (Born on May 10, 1974 in Sao Paolo, Brazil) Lincoln first began _ skateboarding in _1987_ in San Paolo, Brazil on a skateboard borrowed from a cousin. That same year he received a board to share with his brother from his father on Christmas. He is considered _ to be one of the most explosive skateboarders with a _reputation for launching huge airs and technical tricks __and is a huge crowd favorite. His attacking _style is often a 'go big or go home' type mentality. He may be small in stature, he stands 5'5", but his amplitude is often unmatched and to see someone of his size out skying most of his competitors is an impressive sight. Lincoln is quoted saying, "The biggest thing I've gotten out of my career is being able to live off my skateboarding. Thank God I don't have to save money to pay the next month's rent. Miron (Born on October 3, 1970 in Thunder Bay, Canada) This "Canadian Beast" is one of the forefathers of modern BMX riding. Jay's competed in too many contests to count; he's done it all - and multiple times. He won the first ever gold in X-Games bike dirt history. Bestwick (Born on July 7, 1971 in Nottingham, England) Jamie broke into the competition scene in 2000 only after a year of coming to the U.S. His favorite trick is the downside tailwhip. _He has proven to be one of the 'best' in _ BMX _Vert by winning several goal medals in the Gravity Games, X-Games and a Global X Gold competitions and most recently placing 1st overall in 06' for the Dew Action Sports Tour. Robinson (Born December 19, 1971 in East Providence, RI) Kevin Robinson is 34 and still dominates the vert ramp on a BMX bike and was raked 3rd on the Dew Action Sports Tour 2006. Being one of the _ biggest riders on the ramp at 200 pounds, Kevin's large trick repertoire is even more impressive. Originally from _ East Providence, he now resides in State College, PA where he lives and trains at Camp Woodward. Koji
Kraft (Born on September 23, 1983 in Addison, IL) In early 2000 _ Koji competed in his first ever pro contest, and has been busy ever since._ Koji is known for his huge airs and clean double tailwhips and occasional double flips. Koji's style speaks for itself on the vert ramp. He has legendary status in his hometown of Addison, Illinois, and his style speaks for itself. In 2001 Koji rode with legends _ Dave Mirra and Dennis McCoy on a leg of the Mirra Tour, and continues to do demos to this day. He sky's on the vert ramp, rips park and mini and can also hold his own on street. Koji went up against the infamous El Toro rail in California and came out victorious with a lengthy peg grind. Chad
Kagy (Born November 11, 1978 in Gilroy, CA) BMX is a lifestyle for Chad. His true passion for the sport has only served to make him one of BMX's most exciting riders to watch. Known for -going fast, big gaps, long manuals, and flipwhips, this freestyle BMX rider tends to always stand out from -the -pack. He's a rider who takes risks- to insure that _he is constantly elevating his riding to the- next level. During the Gravity Games 2002 street competition, Chad did a double backflip during his run, _becoming only the second _person to ever do so during a contest run. _ In 2006 he was ranked 2nd overall at the Dew Action Sports Tour. He is one of the most dedicated riders around. Chad moved across the country from his hometown of Gilroy, CA to State College, _PA to be near_ Camp Woodward, the nation's top BMX camp. -This move gave him ample opportunity to improve his riding and fine-tune his skills even more so. Parker (Born on December 30, 1973 in Phoenix, AZ) He began riding in 1988, a time when BMX was a relatively unknown sport with limited popularity. _ Hard work is what John Parker is all about. He pursued his goals and fast became one of the most _experienced and successful competitors in BMX Vert. He has competed in every single X-Games since its inception in 1995, gaining four top five finishes to his credit including a Bronze in Vert Doubles in 1998. Thorne (Born on October 11, 1969 in Kansas City, MO) Rick started riding at the age of 12 and started competing at 15. He has been riding for _24 years and Competing for 21 years. __Rick keeps _ himself busy with _Movie and TV appearances and has his own radio show on EXPN radio. He is the MC of Tony Hawk's Boom Boom Huck Jam as well as being featured in _Tony Hawk's_ Video Game, "American Wasteland" ?and Pro Skater 4 Video Game.
